This exhibition focuses on my experiences as a refugee and an ICORN guest artist in Gävle. I was forced to leave my home country and lived in insecurity for a long time.
When I arrived in Gävle, I started feeling safe and secure again.

It was easier to express myself, including political views, but the move also came with challenges like waiting, paperwork, and stress from the migration process. I also faced difficult questions about creativity, identity, belonging, and culture.
“Who will I be in this new place?”, “Where is my voice?”, “Where do I belong?” For a long time, I was unable to create any art at all when I arrived in Sweden. With this exhibition, I finally started to create again and I created five new art pieces for this exhibition, which was displayed at Gävle Konstcentrum in June-July 2024.

The whole exhibition is based on an exploration of the universal human need to belong. We all have different abilities, interests, desires and experiences -but most of us have an inherent desire or aspiration to belong to somecontext in someway.
Many of us, whatever our background, struggle with these issues:
Where is my ‘home’, and who am I really?
We can come together as fellow human beings in that search, creating a basis for understanding in a world that increasingly focuses on differences and divisions.
